Chery Omoda 5 recall: Parts delivery of affected 8,878 units underway

PETALING JAYA: Parts for a total of 8,878 units of Omoda 5s affected by Chery Auto Malaysia's (Chery) latest recall are said to be making their way to authorised Chery service centres across the country.

Chery in a Facebook statement said they are currently in the process of expediting the delivery of the components with the first of them having been made and will be distributed to the service centres in stages.

All vehicles involved in the campaign are entitled to a free inspection and parts replacement at any authorised Chery service centre nationwide.

The campaign which affects both C and H variants of the model follows a recent incident where a part of the vehicle detached while being driven.

Additionally, the company says it has identified the affected vehicles and will proactively reach out to owners to ensure their experience goes smoothly.

Owners of the Omoda 5 model can verify if their vehicle is affected by checking the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at the company's website.

Apologising for any of the troubles caused, the company vouched it is determined to address the issue responsibly and ensure the safety of its customers.

They thank customers for the patience and cooperation shown during this campaign, and assured owners that each measure Chery takes is not only in line with the accuracy of the Road Transport Department's (JPJ) investigation but also designed to protect the interest of their customers.

Both customers and owners alike can reach out to the customer service Chery Careline at 03-9388 0888 for any inquiries they may have in regards to the recall campaign.
