Chery puts Tiggo 8 Pro hybrid through humidity gauntlet in Indonesia

JAKARTA: Chery launched the second stop of its global Safety Challenge in Indonesia, subjecting the Tiggo 8 Pro CSH plug-in hybrid SUV to rigorous battery safety trials under tropical humidity.

This follows a series of extreme real-world tests in China — including spiral rollovers, dual-vehicle collisions and a 48-hour, seven-vehicle vertical-stack stress assessment in Wuhu. The crash tests in China used the bigger Tiggo 9 Pro hybrid.

Indonesia’s high-moisture, rain-soaked conditions will demonstrate the hybrid system’s resilience in a climate markedly different from previous venues.

Safety Challenge in 5 Countries

Chery frames these trials within its “In Somewhere, For Somewhere” strategy, which adapts evaluation protocols to address local environmental concerns such as flooding and persistent humidity.

Following Indonesia, the Safety Challenge will proceed to South Africa, Brazil and Mexico, each stage tailored to distinct climatic or topographical extremes.

The campaign aims to raise the global benchmark for hybrid-vehicle safety and bolster confidence in Chery’s intelligent mobility solutions by proving that its flagship Tiggo 8 Pro CSH can endure diverse and demanding conditions worldwide.
