Chery QQ Domi: China’s new mini EV

BEIJING: Chery has launched the mini all-electric QQ Domi sport utility vehicle (SUV) at less than US$10,000 (around RM43,000).

The QQ Domi is offered in two trims, with the base variant at a limited-time price of 59,900 yuan (RM36,000) with a CLTC range of 305km, according to a news report by electrek.co.

The extended-range model, with a CLTC range of 405km, costs 69,900 yuan (RM42,000).

The Chery QQ Domi measures just 3,720mm in length, 1,700mm in width, and 1,608mm in height, or about the size of BYD’s top-selling Seagull EV.

Both variants come with a 10.25-inch floating central infotainment and 7-inch driver display screens, voice recognition, a rear park radar, and a reversing image.

The higher-priced trim includes vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities, enabling the vehicle to power devices, home appliances, and other electronics.

The entry-level variant is equipped with a 28.5kWh battery, while the extended-range model uses a 39.33kWh battery.

Both can be recharged from 30% to 80% in around 30 minutes.

A news report by carnewschina.com pointed out that the car adopts a youthful design language featuring rounded contours, LED headlights with lenses, trapezoidal lower grille accents, hidden door handles, and a blacked-out C-pillar that creates a floating roof effect.

The rear design mirrors the front with a black trim connecting the tail lights.

The gear selector is mounted on the steering column, freeing up centre console space.

The front seats are integrated in a single-piece style, and the rear seats are designed to maximise space efficiency.
