A Chery International spokesperson told Carsifu.my that the group was also looking at plans to launch its EQ1 micro battery electric vehicle (BEV) in Malaysia in 2022, and is presently in discussions with a potential business partner for completely-knocked-down (CKD) operations.
The spokesperson was unable to talk about the Tiggo 4 Pro's probable selling prices for Malaysia, citing a need to look at "local tax and production cost structures."
In November, Chery Automobile had marked its official entry into South Africa by launching the Tiggo 4 Pro.

During the launch in Johannesburg, South Africa, Chery International general manager Zhang Guibing noted that it also marked another step in the automaker's product strategy for right-hand drive (RHD) markets.
The Tiggo 4 Pro is billed as integrating a dynamic and stylish appearance, luxurious and comfortable interior, and smart configurations.
Features include a diamond grille, LED headlights and daytime running lights, a 7-inch LCD instrument display, 10.25-inch floating central console panel, 8-inch air-conditioning touch screen as well as a yacht-styled cockpit for a comfortable driving experience.
In South Africa, the Tiggo 4 Pro comes in five variants, powered by either a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (producing 111hp and 138Nm) or turbocharged engine (producing 145hp and 210Nm).
Buyers can choose either a six-speed manual gearbox or CVT (continuously variable transmission).
Chery's Pro series for its Tiggo 8, 7, 4 and 2 models have been launched in countries such as Russia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
In a statement, Chery said unlike previous models, the Pro series has significant differentiating features.
The series adheres to the Chery 3.0 global design concept, and adopts a new sun-star front face design, and is fitted with generous kit, as well as the Chinese automaker's top powertrains for outstanding power performance.
