Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV scores five stars in Asean NCAP rating


KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia's Tiggo 7 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) has earned itself a 5-Star Asean NCAP rating.

It attained an overall 94.68-point performance score which is based on the four assessment categories under the ASEAN NCAP 2021–2025 protocol.

As pointed out by the company, a major high point of the scoring by the Asean NCAP and Miros was the model's achievement of a perfect score of 40.00 points in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category.

It further distinguished itself by integrating Child Presence Detection (CPD) technology in - a system that proactively alerts the driver to check the rear seats if the rear doors were opened prior to the start of a journey.

Chery Malaysia vice president Lee Wen Hsiang commented that nothing matters more than safety and reliability for driver's today which is what the Tiggo 7 PHEV delivers at an exceptional level.

“This Asean NCAP recognition reinforces our dedication to introducing vehicles that combine innovation, best in technology, practicality, and world-class protection,” he added.

The model comes standard with eight airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Seat Belt Reminder (SBR) for both frontal and rear seats occupants, rear seats occupant detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, Blind Spot Detection (BSD) for both driver- and passenger-side of the vehicle, Adaptive High Beam (AHB), Parking Pilot (PP), ISOFIX for child seats and Child Presence Detection (CPD).

Adding to the list, the Tiggo 7 PHEV is also equipped with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and AEB for Motorcycle as standard features in all its variants.

The breakdown of the Asean NCAP scoring for the Tiggo 7 PHEV is as follows: a full score of 40.00 points for AOP, COP with 17.18 points, 20.00 points for the Safety Assist (SA) category and the Motorcycle Assist (MS) category with 17.50 points.

The current Asean NCAP 2021–2025 assessment protocol encompasses four assessment
domains with AOP accounting for 40.00 points of the overall score, while the COP, SA, and MS categories each contributing 20.00 points.
