KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Auto Malaysia has officially launched its Tiggo Cross challenger into the competitive local B-segment sports utility vehicle (SUV) market.
The Tiggo Cross comes in two variants, starting with a 1.5-litre Turbo as the entry-level variant and priced at RM88,800 on-the-road without insurance.
The range-topping Tiggo Cross Hybrid CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) variant is priced from RM99,800.

The Tiggo Cross is offered with a seven-year/150,000km warranty and seven-year/150,000km 24/7 unlimited towing.
The Hybrid CSH variant adds an eight-year/160,0000km coverage for the battery power pack, power motor and hybrid control unit.
Available colours across the variants are Carbon Black, Phantom Grey and Khaki White.

The Turbo gets a variant signature colour of Blood Stone Red while the Hybrid CSH has the unique Moonlight Silver.
Additionally, an early-bird special will provide a two-year all-inclusive free service for the first 2,000 early adopters or until Sept 30, whichever comes first.
As standard, the 1.5-litre (1,498cc) Turbo variant will have 147PS and 210Nm of torque on tap, while a six-speed dual-clutch transmission manages power to the front wheels.

There are Eco, Normal and Sport modes and 0 to 100kph sprints will take about 10.3 seconds, while fuel consumption has been rated at 6.3L/100km.
The suspension utilises front MacPherson struts and a rear torsion beam setup while having a wheelbase of 2,610mm, length of 4,318mm, width of 1,830mm and height of 1,670mm.
Disc brakes are used with the Turbo getting 18-inch wheels and the Hybrid CSH having 17-inch wheels.

Among the list of standard equipment are the LED headlights, electric parking brakes with auto-hold function, follow -me-home function, automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, rear LED light clusters, rear fog lights, roof rails and a rear sport spoiler.
Inside, the blacked-out cabin features faux leather upholstery 15W wireless charger, dual-zone automatic climate controls, rear air vents, soft-touch instrument panel, two USB-A ports (front) and one USB-A port (rear).
There's also keyless-entry with push-start button and remote engine-start, 12V start-stop system, powered tailgate, automatic wipers, six-way powered driver's seat, and four-way manual front passenger seat.

To add colour and contrast to the cabin is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch infotainment headunit that powers a six-speaker sound system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice control, and a 540-degree HD panoramic camera.
For safety, the Tiggo Cross comes with six airbags, brake assist, electronic stability programme, hill start assist, emergency brake assist, traction control, mechanical child safety lock, tyre pressure monitoring system and speed limiter reminder.
To further bolster safety are advanced driver aid systems such as lane departure warning, blind-spot detection system, rear cross-traffic alert, intelligent headlight control, lane departure prevention, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking system.

The range-topping Hybrid CSH adds on 97kg from the Turbo variant at 1,565kg (kerb) as well as an electric lumbar support for the driver's powered seat.
The engine is now naturally aspirated with 96PS and 120Nm of torque which gets supplemented by an electric motor producing 204PS and 310Nm of torque powered via a 1.8kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery.
It uses a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT150) and is able to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 8.9 seconds or 1.4 seconds quicker than the Turbo.

The Hybrid CSH also promises a driving range of 1,000km on a single tank of fuel.
Although the Turbo has three driving modes, the Hybrid CSH only gets Eco and Sport modes.

Additionally, the Hybrid CSH has seven airbags (one extra) before adding on door opening warning, rear collision warning, rear cross traffic braking, lane change assist, emergency lane keeping, multi-collision brake, traffic jam assist, integrated cruise control and smart vehicle speed.
"We are proud to unveil the much-awaited Chery Tiggo Cross - a compact SUV created for those on the move," said Chery Malaysia vice-president Michael Chew.

Chew also added that the SUV combines a modern design, practical space, advanced features, and a confident stance - perfect for navigating the city or escaping it over the weekend.
At the launch, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh received a contribution of RM50,000 in supporting the National Sports Trust Fund from Chery Corporate Malaysia.
