Chery's Jaecoo J7 AWD arrives in Malaysia for trials and engagement sessions

KUALA LUMPUR: The Jaecoo sub-brand from China's Chery Automotive Group is making its first foray into Malaysia with the arrival of the first two units of the right-hand drive Jaecoo J7 AWD.

Looking like they took inspiration from Range Rover, the so-called urban off-road SUV prototypes would undergo local road trials and be shown to potential dealers and investors.

The new brand is expected to be officially introduced to Malaysia in 2024.

According to Jaecoo global website, the J7 has a 2,672mm wheelbase and 200mm of ground clearance that are suitable to go offroad. Its 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine makes 145kW and 290Nm of torque.

The statement also said it is currently seeking to appoint dealers ahead of the launch of its first model in 2024.

Prospective customers, investors and dealers are referred to JAECOO global website if they are seeking more information.
