The 740Le xDrive M Sport is priced at RM591,503.05, while the X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence is RM 673,323.61. Prices are on the road, without insurance and without Sales and Services Tax.
Both models are the latest additions to BMW Malaysia’s extensive portfolio of locally assembled cars in Kulim, Kedah. They are also the first cars rolled out under the watch of new BMW Group Malaysia managing director and CEO Hans de Visser.
So Malaysian customers can now get the 740Le in either a sporty appearance (M Sport) or the one with an emphasis on luxury (Pure Excellence).
Featuring the M Sport Aerodynamic Package, the 7 Series plug-in hybrid (PHEV) arrives with the Individual High-gloss Shadow Line that highlights the car's sleek profile.
The front features the iconic kidney grille, BMW Laser Lights with High Beam Assistant, and large air intakes.
Other exterior highlights are the 19-inch M light alloy wheels with mixed tyres that are also run-flat tyres, M Sport brakes and panoramic glass roof.
The 740Le is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine making 286hp at 5,000–6,000 rpm, and has peak torque of 450Nm at 1,550–3,500rpm.
An electric motor powered by an improved lithium-ion battery produces 113hp, and peak torque of 265Nm. Combined output is 394hp and 600Nm of torque. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 2.8l/100km.
Power is relayed to both axles via an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
The car goes from 0-100kph in 5.1s, with top speed capped at 250kph.
The cabin is decked out in "Fineline" Fine Wood Trim in Black with High Gloss Metal Effect and BMW Individual Alcantara Anthracite headliner.
Among the long list of kit are M-Sport steering wheel, electrically adjustable Comfort seats with memory function in front, 4-zone climate control, head-up display, gesture control, ambient lighting, roller sunblinds for the rear side windows, soft-close doors, wireless charging, BMW Display Key and hands-free tailgate operation.
The dash features the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with a fully-digital 12.3-inch Instrument Display, as well as the BMW Navigation System Professional with 10.25-inch Control Display. Two 10-inch touchscreen monitors ensure passengers in the back seats can be entertained on the move with audio coming from the 16-Speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system.
Electronic aids for safety and convenience include Driving Assistant Professional, Parking Assistant Plus and Connected Package Professional.
The 7 Series is available in a choice of four colours: Mineral White, Carbon Black Metallic, Donington Grey, and Bernina Grey with Amber effect. The exterior colour can all be paired with Nappa leather upholstery in black or cognac stitching.
The 740Le will be available in showrooms from May 8.
Customers can only book the car online for RM5,000 from May 11, as the website is currently down for scheduled maintenance.
