PETALING JAYA: If the 11-seat Kia Carnival doesn't quite meet your needs, Kia Malaysia has the MPV in seven and eight-seat configurations now.

Bookings are open for the 7 and 8-seaters.

The base 8-seater is RM231,229 (OTR without insurance) with a higher specified 8 seater at RM247,229. The top variant is a 7 seater, priced at RM261,229.

While the 11-seat Carnival is fully imported, the ones with fewer seats are locally assembled at the Inokom assembly plant in Kulim, Kedah, under new distributor Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd, which is part of the Bermaz Group.

The CBU version will continue to be sold alongside the CKD ones at RM196,340; it's price is the lowest despite CBU status because of its commercial vehicle classification.

The new Carnival is the fourth generation of the brand’s flagship MPV that is now looking more like an SUV than an MPV.

The Carnival features a new "tiger face" that integrates with Kia’s iconic "tiger-nose’ grille. The grille and lamps are defined by the high precision details and chrome trim above the grille forming its character line around the face of the car.

The locally assembled Kia Carnival received newly added driving comfort features that is now standard across all the CKD variants, which include LED rear combination lights and 12-speaker BOSE sound system.

Kia says the Carnival offers unique and innovative features that make travel more accessible, safer and more enjoyable.

An example would be the Smart Power Sliding doors and smart power liftgate, as well as the smart key with one-button open/close functionality for rear sliding doors and liftgate. other standard options include 18-inch alloy wheels, dual LED headlights and led daytime running light, a 12.3-inch high-resolution LCD touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging and seven USB ports.

As for the variant’s additional enhancement, the 2.2D 8-seater High and 2.2D 7-seater High are equipped with driver memory seat, heated and ventilated seats, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, interior LED lamps, surround view monitor and dual power sunroof.

The Carnival 2.2D 8-seater High and 7-seater High are now equipped with newly added advanced safety features such as High Beam Assist (HBA), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW), Blind-Spot Collison-Avoidance (BCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) and Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

Apart from the safety features, the Carnival is built with a lighter and stronger platform with hot-stamped parts and ultra-high-strength steel for increased average tensile strength and torsional stiffness, giving better driving dynamics.

The improved aerodynamics from wheels, front bumpers and mirrors contributes to better fuel efficiency.

The MPV is powered by a 2.2-litre Smartstream turbodiesel engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, controlled by an electronic shifter (E-Shift).
