Collecting Cars sold its 1,000th Ferrari via online auction

LONDON: Collecting Cars has sold its 1,000th Ferrari via online auction, marking a major milestone for the platform.

The 1,000th car sold was a bespoke Ferrari FF, commissioned by Ferrari Chairman John Elkann, with a discerning specification including cloth seats.

Demonstrating that online auctions are now the trusted route for selling the world’s most desirable machines, Collecting Cars has generated over 129 million pounds in Ferrari sales to date.

Collecting Cars has calculated that the 1,000 Ferraris sold have achieved on average 17.3 per cent more bids than other brands sold via the platform.

To date, the platform has sold over 700 Ferraris in the UK, where the auction platform is headquartered.

Elsewhere, 200 were sold by enthusiasts across Europe, and more than 70 were auctioned off throughout Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.

Since its launch, Collecting Cars has offered a wide spectrum of Ferrari models, ranging from iconic analogue supercars to the latest limited-production hypercars.

Among the most notable results are a 1997 Ferrari F50 once owned by Rod Stewart, which achieved 2.94 million pounds, a 2002 Ferrari Enzo that sold for 2.5 million pounds and a 1991 Ferrari F40 that reached 1.7 million pounds.

More recent highlights include a 2024 Ferrari SF90 XX Spider, which was the first such car to be auctioned worldwide and sold for 1.7 million euros and a 2022 Ferrari 812 Competizione that sold for 1.31 million euros.

Modern icons continue to perform strongly, with several Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta models consistently breaking the half-million-pound mark, and high-specification examples of the F12 TDF, 599 GTO, and 488 Pista delivering remarkable prices.

Collecting Cars founder Edward Lovett said, “Ferrari is one of the benchmark brands in the collector car world – it resonates across generations, markets and continents."
