KUALA LUMPUR: The implementation of contra-flow on the Maju Expressway (MEX) will be extended due to its effectiveness in easing the traffic flow at the mainline of the highway.

MEX Sdn Bhd in a statement Tuesday said since its implementation, the contra-flow had contributed to a shorter journey time, that is 10 minutes faster than usual. The average number of vehicles using the route is 3,000 vehicles from 6.30am until 9am.

"The implementation of the contra-flow is on the initiative and proposal of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) to handle the increasing number of traffic from Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Seri Kembangan to Kuala Lumpur. "LLM and MEX will constantly monitor the contra-flow," the statement said.

Users are advised to follow the road signages in place at KM11.5 to KM7.9 and plan their journey to avoid congestion.
