Covid-19: PLUS stresses strict safety protocols as cases surge

PETALING JAYA: PLUS Malaysia has called on highway users to strictly observe health and safety protocols to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission as 1.5 million vehicles ply its network of highways across seven states.

Its managing director, Datuk Azman Ismail, said the standard operating procedure (SOP) imposed by the authorities should be strictly observed in view of the very high traffic volume, and the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the country.

"Wear face masks at all times, and strictly observe the one-metre social distance order when at our R&R (rest and service areas), stopovers, and when interacting with PLUS customer service assistants," he said in a statement today.

Apart from checking temperature, PLUS has made it mandatory for customers to use the MySejahtera contact tracing application when stopping over at its facilities.

"We also emphasise cleanliness at the food courts and the entire R&R premises, stopovers, and plaza tolls.

"Routine scheduled cleaning and sanitising exercises are carried out.

"PLUS will step up surveillance to ensure the safety and comfort of our frontliners, customers and business partners.

"We call upon our highway customers to observe the SOP imposed by the authorities in the spirit of Kita Jaga Kita (we take care of each other) tagline.

"Our aim is to take good care of all our customers.

"Every PLUS staff, from customer service assistants to PLUSRonda personnel, to toll plaza supervisors, must strictly observe the SOP," he said.

Customers who fail to wear face masks would be denied entry or barred from making any transactions, he said.

Everyone should observe the new normal culture to reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19, he added.
