SUBANG JAYA: Proton Holdings Bhd has appointed Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa as the company’s deputy CEO, effective Nov 1, 2025.
A well-respected figure in Malaysia’s automotive industry, Abdul Rashid returns to Proton with more than 30 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and product development.
During his previous tenure, he served as chief technical officer before being appointed as CEO for Proton Edar, where he oversaw several key milestones that marked the company’s growth including the launch of the Proton X70 in 2018.
Following his time at Proton, Abdul Rashid then oversaw major portfolios within UMW Holdings Bhd, including heading the aerospace division, as well as leading initiatives in mobility, innovation and sustainable development aligned with the national agenda, further reinforcing his commitment to advancing Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem.
“His wealth of experience and insight into the Malaysian automotive industry and his familiarity with our operations will play a key role in supporting our transformation and advancing the company’s growth. At the same time, we would also like to say thank you to Ainol Azmil who capably served as covering deputy CEO from June 10 to Oct 31 this year,” said Proton CEO Dr Li
Chunrong.
Ainol will resume his roles as vice president, corporate strategy, as well as oversee Proton’s group technical procurement division as its senior director.
Proton also extended its appreciation for Ainol's capable leadership and commitment during his time as covering deputy CEO, where his steady guidance ensured continuity in management operations.
