PETALING JAYA: BMW Group Malaysia today introduced a DC (direct current) fast charging station at Auto Bavaria Ara Damansara here for public users, the first of many to be installed at BMW i dealers across the country.

Leading up to the arrival of the BMW i fleet, the German automaker said it is committed to accelerating availability of chargers in Malaysia, along with DC rapid chargers for quick on-the-go charging at selected dealerships nationwide.

As indicated in the photo, the 180kW charging station is able to charge two electric cars at the same time, using Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors. It would take around 30 mins to charge from empty to 80%.

"We partnered with GreenTech Malaysia from the get-go to ensure a functioning ecosystem for electromobility to thrive in, and are continuing to deliver on that commitment alongside our network of dedicated dealers – not just for BMW and MINI owners, but for electric vehicle owners in Malaysia," said BMW Group Malaysia managing director Hans de Visser.

BMW Group Malaysia has been working on electrified mobility in the country since 2015, the year in which BMW i was first introduced locally. Since then, it has delivered over 21,000 electrified BMW and MINI to customers.
