Deepavali travellers urged to plan journeys, take advantage of PLUS travel time advisory

PETALING JAYA: Deepavali travellers are advised to plan their journeys as more than two million vehicles a day are expected to use PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) highways.

PLUS recommends travellers use its newly released Travel Time Advisory (TTA) Deepavali schedule for the North-South Expressway (NSE) from Nov 10 to 14.

On Nov 10 and 11, PLUS recommends those travelling from the Klang Valley to the north towards Perlis, Kedah, Penang and northern Perak to begin their journeys from 8am to 11am while those travelling to central Perak are advised to start their journey between 4pm and 7pm.

Those heading south to Johor and southern Melaka are advised to travel from 10am to 1pm, while those heading to Negri Sembilan and Melaka are advised to head out from 1pm to 4pm.

Meanwhile, those heading to other parts of the country through PLUS-owned highways are advised to begin their journeys after 10pm.

“This TTA schedule is provided to assist highway users in planning their journeys and enable PLUS to distribute traffic more evenly, preventing vehicles from converging at critical locations on the highway simultaneously.

“However, traffic flow also depends on unforeseen events such as accidents and other factors that may disrupt travel on the highway,” PLUS said in a press release on Tuesday (Nov 7).

It also recommends highway users to constantly keep up-to-date with real-time traffic information through its social media on X @PLUSTrafik, PLUS App, PUTRI Chatbot, electronic sign boards (VMS) at selected locations, and through traffic reports from radio broadcasts.

The highway concessionaire also advised the public to use its newly launched My-TTA Public Pilot via the PLUS App to help plan their journeys during this festive season.

“We also advise highway users to plan their inbound journey based on the TTA when returning to the Klang Valley after the holiday period,” it added.

Other than the NSE, PLUS also currently operates the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE), New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), Seremban-Port Dickson Highway (SPDH), Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Expressway (Linkedua) and the Penang Bridge.
