Delivery from July for bookings made in May, says Proton
By CARSIFU | 01 May 2022
SUBANG JAYA: If you have booked a Proton car from May 1, get ready to wait until July for the vehicle to be delivered.
Proton said today that it had to reach this decision following production delays caused by the global shortage of semi-conductors and raw materials.
At the same time, the Sales and Service Tax (SST) is expected to be reinstated on July 1 (unless the Government decides to extend exemption again).
Assuming SST exemption ends on June 30 as planned, Proton said it would have to issue a new price list in due course, once all factors including the reinstatement of SST have been calculated.
"We apologise to all who are affected by this issue and would like to reassure everyone that we will continue to focus on maximising vehicle production number to deliver vehicles as soon as possible," Proton said in a statement.
