Did Honda just teased the electric NSX?

TOKYO: A car shown at Honda's electrification plan today appears to be the electric version of the NSX. That's the one on the right.

The other one also under wraps has the shape of a grand tourer. Honda said both are to be introduced globally.

The Honda NSX is sold as the Acura NSX in the US.

Since last year, talk has been rife that Honda is readying an all-electric NSX to replace the hybrid mid-engine sports coupe. Today could be the first glimpse of the car albeit under the covers.

Acura vice president and brand officer Jon Ikeda had said last year that Acura builds “an NSX when there's something we want to say.” The first generation was petrol-powered while the second generation moved on to a hybrid propulsion. Taking it to the next step would logically be a full electric powertrain.

This year represents the last model year for the second-gen NSX. For the last hurrah, Honda is offering to the world 350 units of a higher performance NSX Type S that makes 600hp (+27hp) before it makes way for the all-electric NSX. Of that number, 300 units are destined for the US market.
