Diesel subsidy fleet cards to be issued faster, says minister

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali says there were delays in issuing fleet cards under the Subsidised Diesel Control System 2.0 (SKDS 2.0), but gave his assurance in the Dewan Rakyat that the process will be expedited.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister said during Question Time today that steps taken by the ministry included asking the oil companies involved to implement the use of cash cards.

“The ministry... can approve (fleet card) applications as soon as we receive all the documents.

“But I admit there’s a problem in the issuance of fleet cards by the oil companies.

"Both my ministry and the Finance Ministry are also simplifying the process.

"We are also requesting that oil companies implement the use of cash cards while waiting for the fleet cards to be issued.

“We will continue engaging with the oil companies to ensure that the fleet cards will be issued faster,” he said in reply to a supplementary question from Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka).

Khoo had asked for an explanation of the delay in issuing fleet cards under SKDS 2.0.

Khoo said although the ministry approved the fleet cards around March and April, many land transportation companies had yet to receive theirs.

This delay, he said, caused problems for such companies although they were entitled to claim reimbursement.

The five main oil companies involved in issuing fleet cards are PETRONAS, Shell, Petron, Caltex and BHP.

The government began accepting applications for refunds from SKDS 2.0 recipients from July 1.

This facility is available exclusively to owners of eligible logistics vehicles whose applications were approved under SKDS 2.0 but who have yet to receive their fleet cards.

Eligible applicants can apply for a refund through the Budi Madani portal at https://budimadani.gov.my.

Successful claimants would be reimbursed for the difference between the current diesel price of RM3.35 per litre and the SKDS 2.0 price of RM2.15, for diesel consumed since June 10 with a volume cap imposed.
