PETALING JAYA: Dongfeng Heavy Industries Sdn Bhd (DHI) has officially launched its operations in Malaysia as the authorised distributor of Dongfeng heavy-duty trucks, introducing a range of commercial vehicles aimed at the transport, haulage and construction sectors.
At the launch, DHI introduced a line-up comprising prime movers, tippers and cement mixers.

The company also signed a purchase agreement with Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles for 200 trucks, comprising 80 prime movers, 70 tippers and 50 mixers.
In addition, an assembly agreement was signed with Gemilang Coachwork Sdn Bhd, alongside several customer purchase agreements.

Representing Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles, Wang Long, chairman of the board and party secretary of China Dongfeng Motor Industry Import & Export Co Ltd, said the launch reflected Dongfeng's continued commitment to strengthening its presence in Malaysia while enhancing customer support and aftersales services.
He added that Dongfeng Heavy Industries was expected to play a key role in expanding the brand's reach and delivering greater value to transport and haulage operators nationwide.

According to DHI executive director Quek Wang, the latest generation of Dongfeng heavy-duty trucks was selected to address the needs of local transport operators.
He said the vehicles comply with Euro V emissions standards and utilise proven engine and drivetrain technologies from established manufacturers.
The vehicles will be assembled locally in completely knocked down (CKD) form through Johor-based Gemilang Coachwork.

Quek said Gemilang's manufacturing expertise, production engineering capabilities and quality control processes made it well-positioned to support Dongfeng's growth plans in Malaysia.
Gemilang Coachwork director Pang Jun Jie said the company's experience in transforming CKD units into market-ready commercial vehicles made it a suitable strategic partner for Dongfeng's local expansion efforts.

Dongfeng Heavy Industries also plans to establish a network of workshops at strategic locations
nationwide to support customers.
The company said all appointed workshops will be required to provide mobile rescue services to help minimise vehicle downtime and improve fleet support.

Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles is one of China's largest truck manufacturers and produces light-, medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles for logistics, construction, mining and specialised transport applications.
Founded in 1969, the company has expanded its presence across Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. – Zachary Ho
