Don't bend the Bugatti — a new bonnet costs a fortune

HAMBURG: If you are one of the few ultra-rich who drive a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, you may not need to worry too much about finding "small change" for a repair.

As a matter of interest though, the cost of some spare components for the Bugatti special model is enough to give the owner of a humbler car a heart attack.

Online spare parts dealer parts4USA is offering a front end for the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ for a staggering €393,754.95 (RM1.8mil). The deal includes the front lip, left and right mudguard and front bonnet. The parts are all new and original.

For that money you could also buy a new supercar.

A regular Chiron front costs around €80,000 (RM375,000) lower front bumper part with front grille retails for €78,750.95 (RM369,000).

A Chiron costs at least US$3 million (RM13.5mil) to buy so the cost of replacement parts might be seen only as a minor drawback.

By comparison, a McLaren 720s front bumper cover seems cheap at €9,842.95 (RM46,000) while a front fender for an Aston Martin DBX is a real snip at €4,920.95 (RM23,000).

It's worth remembering that all supercars are expensive to maintain and the earlier Bugatti Veyron is no exception.

The engine is equipped with a dry-sump oiling system and 16 drain plugs which can only be accessed after removing certain components of the underbody.

That explains why a Bugatti Veyron oil change usually costs between €20,000 and €25,000 (RM117,000).
