Ducati DesertX arriving soon


KUALA LUMPUR: Ducati Malaysia has confirmed that the all-new Ducati DesertX will be available locally in the early part of the fourth quarter.

For the first time in Ducati's modern history, it is fitting the dual purpose DesertX with a 21-inch front wheel typically used for off-roading.

The rugged machine is more at home off-roading but is also designed to deliver good performance during street riding.

The DesertX comes with six riding modes of Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet along with two off-roading of Enduro and Rally.

There is a suite of riding assistance such a Engine Brake Control (EBC), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down, and ABS Cornering.

Powering the machine is a 937cc liquid-cooled, Testastretta 11-degree V-twin engine that is also used in the Monster, Hypermotard and Multistrada V2 models.

Being an off-road bike, the DesertX comes with a long travel suspension system provided by Kayaba.

The front is equipped with a 46mm front fork offering 231.14mm of suspension travel and preload adjustment.

Meanwhile, the rear gets 220.98mm of travel and a preload clicker as well as settings for compression and rebound damping.

This 202kg (dry weight) machine is fitted with M50 Brembo Monoblock four-piston calipers at the front and the rear is a two-piston caliper with ABS.

The ABS comes with three settings and the rider can turn off the ABS at any time.

Aside from a 21-litre tank, the DesertX's five-inch TFT color display comes ready for integration with the Ducati Multimedia System.

The screen is set at an upright position instead of the usual horizontal placement.
