BUKIT JELUTONG: Express bus company Ekspres Perdana has expanded its fleet with 60 units of new Scania buses equipped with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) for better safety.
Lane Departure Warning (LDW), one of the ADAS features, is now a standard safety feature for all Scania New Bus Generation (NBG) models, adding to safety features such as Electronic Braking System (EBS) with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction Control which were standard since 2019.
Ekspres Perdana, a brand under Tiara Pesona Sdn Bhd, had ordered Scania NBG Euro 5 double-deck express coaches fitted with ADAS technology.
These new buses also come with Scania Malaysia's repair and maintenance contracts and Ekspres Perdana can access a suite of Scania Digital Services.
Also, Scania Malaysia's Fleet Management System Control package provides valuable insights and information about Ekspres Perdana's fleet.
They can be accessed via My Scania portal and Fleet app including essential features such as real-time positioning, vehicle performance monitoring, environmental reporting to track CO2 emissions, service planning, defect reporting, and driver evaluation.
These tools enable Ekspres Perdana to identify opportunities for vehicle usage improvements through Driver Training and Coaching.

Ekspres Perdana currently has over 100 Scania buses in its fleet, and has been operating Scania buses since 2010.
The recent ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah and Sweden's Ambassador to Malaysia, Niklas Wiberg.
Also present were Road Transport Department (JPJ) deputy director general (planning and operations) Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi, Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) director-general Dr Siti Zaharah Ishak, Perdana Group managing director Laili Ismail as well as Scania Southeast Asia managing director Joyce Antar and dealer director (region North) Wong Nyook Lin.
“The Malaysian Road Safety Plan (MRSP) 2022-2030 has set a vision to make Malaysia a country with zero road fatality as a proof of the government’s continuous commitment to elevate road safety and protect the welfare of all road users in Malaysia. I would like to applaud both Scania and Ekspres Perdana for the continued strong partnership towards a safer and more sustainable transport system,” said Hasbi.
“We chose to expand our fleet of express buses with Scania NBG Euro 5 models because they provide the best safety features in the industry as standard. The LDW as part of ADAS will help to reduce the risk of accidents on the road. These 60 units of coaches will provide the best safety and comfort for our passengers and drivers on the road. They will also contribute to better fuel efficiency and sustainability for our business,” said Laili.
“Road safety is high on the agenda for Scania and in many markets including Malaysia. We consider Electronic Braking System (EBS) and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) to be the next step in enhancing the standard of safety as they have been proven to be effective in reducing traffic accidents,” said Antar.
