PETALING JAYA: It took three phone calls to convince Ban Yuat Wah that she was one of two grand prize winners of the Parkson Shopperrific Shop2Win Contest 2017. She won a Honda Jazz worth RM75,000.
The 53-year-old English teacher from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, initially hung up when Parkson called to clarify her particulars, thinking it was a scam. She ignored the second call but decided to answer the third.
“Until today, I still can't believe that I won the car. I thought I’d try my luck by sending in the entries, and luck actually struck.
Lady Luck was also on 34-year-old Tian Shih Li’s side when she, too, drove home a Honda Jazz.
The corporate communications executive was also shocked, especially when she first received the phone call as she repeatedly asked Parkson if it was a prank call.

“I feel blessed, grateful and happy winning this. It sure is a great start to the new year!” exclaimed the Perakian who currently lives in Kajang.
However, she will not be using the car as she had just bought a new one two months ago, and will give it to her sister who happens to be looking for a car.
Both Ban and Tian, as well as other contest winners, were at the prize-giving ceremony held at Parkson Maju Junction Shopping Mall, Kuala Lumpur.
The first, second, third and fourth prize winners won holiday packages to Shanghai, Qingdao, Bali and Ho Chi Minh respectively, with an additional RM5,000 Parkson gift voucher each.
Consolation prizes that were given away included three units of Vespa S IGET 125, three units of Montague Navigator foldable bicycle, four units of Krups Drop coffee machines and Acca Kappa gift sets as well as RM3,000 Parkson gift vouchers.
The Parkson Shopperrific Shop2Win Contest 2017 was held from Sept 4 to Nov 5, 2017, in conjunction with Parkson’s 30th anniversary.
Customers had to spend a minimum of RM30 to be entitled for an entry. The contest received overwhelming response with more than 500,000 entries submitted from across 45 Parkson stores nationwide.
