KUALA LUMPUR: Vehicle subscription service provider Flux has now added electric vehicles (EVs) to its fleet in a move to broaden the appeal of its service.

The new additions include the BMW iX, iX3, i4, Hyundai Kona Electric e-Max, MINI Cooper SE, and Nissan LEAF.

Since 2019, Flux said its all-in-one subscription has provided customers with all the benefits of owning a car without the drawbacks that come with buying it through a loan.

There is no downpayment, no car loan, no interest, no debt. It’s a hassle-free, low commitment way of having a car.

With the arrival of these EVs, it has never been easier to subscribe and try long-term “ownership” of an electric car without being locked in.

Flux said one of the biggest deterrents for buying an EV is the price in Malaysia.

“The most affordable new EV model, the Nissan LEAF, starts at an estimated RM145,000 which is considerably more expensive in comparison to petrol or diesel cars”, the company said.

Subscribers can now have their own EVs without the high upfront costs.

“While EVs can save you money in the long run, the upfront costs can be too expensive for many people who cannot afford or justify paying this amount”, the company said.

The subscription also reduces the risks of EV ownership which is still a new phenomenon in Malaysia.

“As EV cars are relatively new to the Malaysian market, there is greater uncertainty on an EVs depreciation after five years of ownership.

“As a Flux subscriber, you do not have to bear the risks of traditional ownership. Instead, take advantage of the subscription model and skip the risk of depreciation altogether.

“With Flux, you can subscribe to an EV for as long or as short as you want.

“At the end of the subscription, just return your car. Pay for what you use. Gone are the days of being stuck with your car and getting low ball offers when you want to sell it”, the company said.

The Flux subscription also allows the option to switch to another EV if the current one does not fit the subscriber's needs.

“Or, if you are not ready for an EV yet, you can switch back to a conventional combustion engine vehicle. It's
your choice.

“When you subscribe to Flux, insurance, road tax, maintenance and wear & tear are already included in your monthly subscription”, Flux said.

Flux also provides the charger for the subscriber's under select subscription plans.

Installation will be done through Flux partner Kuro EV.

Flux founder and CEO Aziz Ayman said the company's mission is to eliminate the barriers towards accessing mobility.

“This is even more so when it comes to EV adoption. So many people are keen to try electric, but don’t want to take the leap because they don’t want to make an expensive mistake.

“Via a Flux electric car subscription, consumers have the opportunity to test ‘owning’ their first
EV”, said Aziz.

In addition, Flux provides a concierge that delivers a door-to-door service and handles all administrative and maintenance matters on the subscriber's behalf.

This way, subscribers can spend more time driving their dream EV and less time doing paperwork and mundane admin tasks.

Flux EVs can be subscribed for 12 months or up to three years for the most competitive subscription prices.
