EON aids Putra Heights fire victims and relief workers with free vehicles for a month

SHAH ALAM: DRB-Hicom Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary, Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd (EON), is providing 62 vehicles for the use of the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire victims and parties providing assistance without any charge for a period of one month.

A total of 40 vehicles are being provided to families whose cars had been destroyed or severely damaged.

The vehicles comprise of sedans, sports utility vehicles and multi-purpose vehicles from EON’s retail brands, namely Proton, Mitsubishi, and Volkswagen.

Other vehicles are also being provided through EON’s car rental subsidiary, Avis Malaysia.

In addition, 22 units of pick-up trucks and the smart electric vehicles are also being provided to government agencies and organisations that are providing assistance and relief to the victims.

While the vehicles are provided for a month without charge, the arrangement may be extended depending on specific needs.

EON chief executive officer Akkbar Danial said many families have not only lost their homes but also their main means of transportation due to the fire.

"As one of the country’s largest multi-brand vehicle dealerships, EON is grateful to be in a position to give them some immediate relief in this difficult period," he said.

Akkbar, who is also DRB-Hicom's automotive distribution head, said it was heartening to see many NGO’s that had stepped forward to help the fire victims.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Selangor Menteri Besar’s Office, Social Welfare Department and Subang Jaya Municipal Council for supporting EON on this initiative.
