TANJONG MALIM: Malaysian automotive solutions provider EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) has officially opened its new chassis component assembly facility under Peps Sanly JV Sdn Bhd, located in the Automotive High Technology Valley (AHTV), Tanjong Malim, Perak.
Peps Sanly JV is EPMB's joint venture with metalworks, assembly and brake system specialist Sanly Auto Parts Co Ltd (Sanly China).
The new facility will produce critical components for select Proton models, reinforcing EPMB's longstanding partnership with Proton, which spans nearly four decades.
An event to mark the opening of the facility was witnessed by Perak State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee, Invest Perak acting CEO Dr Ahmad Shahir Abd Aziz, Proton vice president (strategic projects division) Ainol Azmil, and Sanly China director Ji Xiantao.
The new Peps Sanly JV facility was built with a total investment of RM9.5mil and sits on a land area spanning 9,909 sq meters.
The facility commenced operations in October 2025 and is capable of producing 40,000 car sets a month, or up to 480,000 car sets per annum.
The facility will localise the manufacturing of front corner modules, subframe modules, and rear axle modules assemblies for Proton’s AMA01, Persona, Iriz, and upcoming AMA02 and AMA05 models.
In February 2025, EPMB had announced the formalisation of its joint venture with Sanly China under Peps Sanly JV to localise the manufacturing of front corner modules, subframe modules, and rear axle modules assemblies for the Proton Saga AMA01.
EPMB executive chairman Hamidon Abdullah said, "The goal of this partnership is to ensure a more robust and efficient supply chain for EPMB, leveraging Sanly China's advanced metalworking, assembly and automotive chassis system expertise. Notably, EPMB and Sanly are now the only joint venture company specialising in automotive chassis systems in Malaysia."
"By working with Sanly, which has strong ties to Geely and other Chinese OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), we gain direct exposure to China’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem and its competitive cost structures. This positions us to support Proton with enhanced cost efficiency and quality assurance."
