MUNICH: The all-electric smart #3 made its European premiere at the 2023 IAA Mobility Munich Motor Show, following a debut at Auto Shanghai in April this year.
"With the smart #3, we are expanding our offering in the category of all-electric compact SUVs, meeting all driving needs in the city and in suburban environments, while at the same time moving towards a sportier coupé design. We are excited about the impact our first SUV coupé will have on the European market,” says Dirk Adelmann, CEO of smart Europe GmbH.
smart #3 offers impressive performance: peak power ranges from 315 kW for the BRABUS to 200 kW for the other lines which sets a benchmark in this segment.
In terms of acceleration, the smart #3 performs even sportier than the #1: In the BRABUS version, the SUV coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds.
The Pro+, as an entry-level line, is also impressive at 5.8 seconds.
The smart #3 also increases its overall range: to between 435 and 455 km.
The optimized suspension system and the 2785 mm wheelbase combined with a very aerodynamic body featuring a drag coefficient of just 0.27 enable a dynamic driving experience.
With DC-charging of up to 150 kW/h, the smart #3 charges from 10 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes.
In addition, the new model comes with a variety of driving assistance systems such as a highway assistant (HWA) and automatic parking assist (APA).
The smart #3 has a sporty coupé body, athletic curves and a powerful “shark nose.”
The wide A-shaped grill and slim LED headlights round off the front view.
The BRABUS even sports 20-inch rims.
With a length of 4.4 meters and a width of 1.8 meters the car combines a sleek coupé exterior with a comfortable and roomy interior.
Another design highlight is the panoramic halo roof.
The interior features elegant duo leather seats with an integrated headrest.
The limited 25th Anniversary Edition combines features from Premium and design elements from BRABUS, a range of 455 km, 22kW AC charging and an infotainment system consisting of a 12.8-inch central display, a 9.2-inch HD instrument cluster and a 10-inch head-up display, as well as a Beats sound system with 13 speakers.
The 25th Anniversary Edition comes in white with red highlights, black and white leather seats, a very individual panoramic galaxy roof and a sporty body style.
As usual, BRABUS takes a sportier direction, offering bigger wheels, sporty pedals, a specially developed engine sound design for a motorsport feel, and all-wheel drive (AWD).
For those looking for a luxurious experience, the Premium offers CyberSparks LED+ headlights, ambient lighting in the interior and a Beats® sound system on top.
At the entry price point, the Pro+ line is beautifully designed with concealed door handles and comes with a 12.8-inch central display, as well as highway and traffic jam assistants and a wireless charging option.
For Germany, the prices start at € 43,490 for the Pro+, € 46,490 for the Premium, € 46,990 for the 25th Anniversary Edition and € 50,990 for the BRABUS.
The smart #3 will be on sale in Germany by end-2023. Additional European markets will follow in early 2024.
