EV charging service available at OCBC Bank headquarters in KL
By THE STAR | 19 September 2022KUALA LUMPUR: Menara OCBC, the headquarters of OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd in Jalan Tun Perak, Kuala Lumpur is now equipped with two electric vehicle (EV) chargers as part of its commitment to sustainability.
The chargers were installed by Petaling Jaya-based EV Connection Sdn Bhd (EVC), which is a registered electrical contractor with Energy Commission Malaysia and a certified EV charger installer by TUV Rheinland.
EVC managing director Lee Yuen How said EV charging facilities were relatively scarce in the Kuala Lumpur city centre.
“We are delighted to collaborate with OCBC Bank.
“The service at the basement carpark will benefit drivers in the Masjid Jamek area not to mention those who work at the building,” he said.
Unveiling the two 22-kilowatt AC chargers, OCBC chief executive officer Datuk Ong Eng Bin said the bank hoped both staff and members of the public would use the facilities extensively.
“We hope to see even more people switching to EVs now since a key issue has always been the lack of charging stations. Our move is one more step toward removing this obstacle.
“As a banking group celebrating 90 years of giving to communities this year, OCBC Bank looks forward to enabling individuals, SMEs and businesses to build a more sustainable future,” he said.
The EV chargers are available for use from 6am to 10pm on weekdays and from 6am to 6pm on weekends at RM3 per hour in addition to the usual parking charges.
To activate the EV chargers, users need only to download the JomCharge app available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
