Ferrari Purosangue SUV all set for Sept 13 world premiere

MARANELLO: Ferrari has released a teaser image of its Purosangue SUV on Twitter that is embedded with a Sept 13 world premiere date.

It has been four years in the making when Ferrari revealed it would be making its first SUV in its 2018-2022 roadmap.

And here we are, a few days away from the big day when plans come to fruition. Deliveries will start in early 2023.

We know for a fact that the Purosangue, said to be the FF/GTC4Lusso's spiritual successor, will feature Ferrari's gas-guzzling 12-cylinder trademark engine.

As Ferrari chief executive Benedetto Vigna said in May: "We've tested several options, it was clear that the V12, for the performance and driving experience it could provide, was the right option for the market."

The Purosangue is expected to be equipped with air suspension and all-wheel drive. It is based on a platform that can also cater to a hybrid powertrain. It gets a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. As a four-seater, it is expected to be roomier than the previous shooting brakes.

Ferrari plans Purosangue production to form only 20 percent of the total number of cars it makes. It's calling the Purosangue an FUV (Ferrari Utility Vehicle) instead of an SUV, probably to make customers feel they are getting a special car, far removed from the ordinary SUV, which is, oh so, bourgeois.
