Five Shah Alam areas now with two-hour parking system

SHAH ALAM: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) started enforcing the two-hour parking system in five commercial centres in the city from Jan 4.

“The enforcement will be carried out under MBSA’s Road Transport Order (Parking Allocation) 2023 Amendment,” MBSA said on its social media platforms.

“The three-month implementation period last year (prior to the enforcement) was aimed at educating motorists about the new system.”

MBSA said the two-hour parking system would cover 67 bays in Jalan Tengku Ampuan Zabedah D 9/D, Section 9; Jalan Pahat F 15/F, Section 15; Jalan Sepadu B 25/B, Section 25, Taman Sri Muda; Jalan Anggerik Vanilla N 31/N, Section 31, Kota Kemuning; and Jalan Prima R U13/R as well as Jalan Prima F U13/F, Section U13, Setia Alam.

The parking rate for the orange-painted bays designated under the system is RM1.20 for every hour, up to a maximum of two hours.

The payment hours are from 8am to 5pm, from Mondays to Fridays (except public holidays).

MBSA said motorists could pay via apps such as Smart Selangor Parking and Flexi Parking. Other app payment options include GoPay, Jom Parking, Touch ‘n Go and Setel (subject to integration by the app vendors).

“No appeal or compound reduction will be considered for offences such as not paying parking fees, exceeding the time limit or paying the wrong parking fee,” the council added.

MBSA follows several other local councils in Selangor that have already implemented a two-hour system, or hot zone parking, in certain sections of busy commercial areas to free up parking space.
