KUALA LUMPUR: Ford announced that its June retail sales in Malaysia rose by 32% from May to 928 units thanks to the demand for its Ranger pickup truck.

Sales for the Ranger alone rose by 796 units - an increase of 35% from May to June, with a total of 3,539 units sold since January.

The company touts the Ranger as the most capable truck in the country by defining its class-defining ability to wade through 800mm of water, along with its towing and payload capabilities.

It's safety features include up to six airbags as well as driver assistance technologies such as lane keeping aid, adaptive cruise control, electronic stability control and ISOFIX child safety anchor points to name a few.

“The Ranger has truly redefined the pickup market in Malaysia, and many customers are happily using it as both a workhorse and a leisure vehicle,” said Ford Motor Company (Malaysia and Asia Pacific emerging markets) managing director David Westerman.
