Free motorcycle, car aircond service at eastern zone Madani rakyat programme

KUANTAN: Visitors to the Eastern Zone Madani Rakyat programme can enjoy complimentary motorcycle servicing as well as car air conditioner maintenance and headlight polishing during the three-day event starting today.

The services are being offered by GiatMARA in front of the Kuantan City Council building, near Dataran Sayangi Kuantan, which is the main venue of the programme.

Paya Besar GiatMARA automotive technology instructor Ahmad Nazren Mohd Fauzi said 15 students are involved in providing air conditioner service and headlight polishing.

"We provide basic services such as filter and gas checks. If it involves minor repairs, we can do it on the spot, but for major repairs, we cannot do it here,” he said.

He said these services can help visitors save money on vehicle maintenance costs, which could amount to hundreds of ringgit otherwise.

Meanwhile, the Kuala Krau GiatMARA is providing motorcycle maintenance services through seven students aged 16 to 25.

Its manager, Mohammad Zaid Othman, said they offer free oil change services and conduct general inspections to ensure the motorcycles are in good condition.

He added that this free service is limited to 100 motorcycles per day for the three days of the Eastern Zone Madani Rakyat programme.

For GiatMARA student Mohd Daniel Ahmad, 17, participating in the programme is very useful for gaining new experiences while serving the community.

"I hope the public will come to get the free services here and, at the same time, help us (students) expand our knowledge,” he said.

A visitor, Norhamiza Harun, 42, said she learned about the services through social media and did not hesitate to attend the first day of the programme.

"I came from Balok, Kuantan. The services are free, so it’s a waste if we don’t take this opportunity,” said Norhamiza, who had her car air conditioner maintained and headlights polished.
