SHAH ALAM: Warisan Tan Chong Automotif (WTCA), the official distributor of GAC in Malaysia, has launched the GAC Emkoo sports utility vehicle (SUV) in two guises.
The locally-assembled C-segment SUV from China enters with the Premium variant priced on-the-road without insurance at RM123,800 while the range-topping Premium Pro variant goes for RM133,800.
The Emkoo is available for booking and test drives at showrooms nationwide, with deliveries beginning immediately.
The Emkoo is WTCA’s second GAC CKD model in Malaysia, following the GS3 Emzoom, and comes in five colour options of Star Lake Green, Frost White, Super Star Silver, Graphite Grey, and Asphalt Black.
Standard warranty includes a five-year or 150,000km coverage and a seven-year or 180,000km warranty for the engine and powertrain.
The first 500 customers will be entitled to an Exclusive Early Bird Promo comprising of a RM4,000 cash rebate and an accessory package worth RM10,000.

The package includes a two-channel digital video recorder (DVR) with a 64GB Micro-SD Card, EMKOO Exclusive Kicking Plate, Luggage Tray and Sport Pedals.
Premium buyers will also receive Vkool Solar Tint and an electric power tailgate, while Premium Pro buyers will get Vkool Security Tint.
With a 2,750mm wheelbase, the Emkoo measures in at 4,680mm in length, 1,901mm in width and 1,670mm in height.
Under the front hood is a 1.5-litre (1,497cc) turbocharged petrol direct-injected (TGDI) engine that's mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch (wet) transmission and boasts of a tested fuel efficiency of 6.6 litres per 100km (NEDC).

Power has been rated at 177PS at 5,500rpm and 270Nm of torque from 1,400 to 4,500rpm - all for the front wheels, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 8.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 190kph - all while rolling on 19-inch dual-tone alloys wrapped by 235/55 series tyres.
Discs are used at all four corners to rein in excessive speed levels, while handling and comfort are taken care of by front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link setup.
As standard, the Emkoo comes equipped with LEDs for the automatic headlights with dynamic light sequence, daytime runners, turn signals and rear light clusters.
Also included are powered pop-out door handles that can sit flush with the body power power-adjustable external mirrors with auto-fold function, and integrated turn signals, as well as a Passive Entry Passive Start function.
While the boot accords 638 litres of space, expandable to 1,586 litres with the rear seats folded, the cabin comes equipped with a Heads-Up Display (HUD), a 7.0-inch LCD digital instrument cluster, and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen that comes with Bluetooth connectivity as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
Other amenities include a 50W wireless smartphone charger, front and rear USB-A ports, front USB-C port, six audio speakers powered by Dolby's Digital Theatre System with speed-dependent volume control, a 360-degree surround view system with Transparent Chassis and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The four-way adjustable steering is wrapped in leatherette, while the driver gets a ventilated six-way power adjustable seat, and the front passenger is provided with four-way powered adjustability.
Automatic climate controls, a rear cabin air vent, automatic wipers, one-touch power windows with anti-pinch function, and a soft-opening glove box are also standard for the black leatherette interior with black stitching.
For safety, the Emkoo comes with a five-star ASEAN NCAP crash-test rating, along with six airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability programme, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic parking brake (with Autohold), Hill-hold Control, and Hill-descent control.
Further bolstering safety levels is a full suite of Level 2 ADAS which includes Full Automatic Parking Assist (FAPA) and GAC’s Adaptive Vehicle Dynamic Control (AVDC), Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Automatic Emergency Braking - Vulnerable Road Users Protection (AEB-VRU).
There's also Intelligent High Beam Control System (IHBC), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Door Open Warning (DOW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Rear Collision Warning (RCW) and Traffic Sign Recognition System (TSR).

Going with the Premium Pro variant means new owners will get front and rear Dynamic Light Sequence function, hands-free powered tailgate (optional for the Premium variant), power-adjustable side mirrors with heating, curb view and memory function, panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade.
Also included is a heads-up display, a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, genuine leather for the steering wheel, a 12-way power adjustable driver's seat with memory function as well as easy-entry and easy-exit function.
Additionally, there's seat ventilation for the front passenger, rear centre armrest, air quality sensor and ioniser, auto dimming rear view mirror, a multi-colour ambient lighting system, front parking sensors, and electric child door locks.
Meanwhile, the front seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters now have a Crash Locking Tongue for added safety.

Tan also announced that GAC’s aftersales network will expand to 45 service centres across Malaysia by this month.
