KUALA LUMPUR: The GAC M8 flagship plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) has opened for bookings in Malaysia, following its debut at the recent Malaysia Autoshow 2025.
The M8 PHEV is said to redefine standards in the premium MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) segment, and offers a combined range of up to 1,038km on a full tank and charge.
In a statement, GAC said the M8 PHEV offers a comprehensive suite of intelligent driver assistance systems, GAC patented 360-degree full-surround airbags technology – world’s first rear windscreen airbag, cutting-edge magazine battery technology for enhanced stability, and a thoughtfully crafted cabin.
WTC Automotive CEO Tan Keng Meng said it is expected to be priced from RM333,000, with full specifications to be announced closer to its market launch.
The GAC M8 comes with a standard 5-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty, whichever comes first.
Additionally, its magazine battery, drive motor and electric control units are covered under a separate 8-year or 150,000km warranty.
Customers who place bookings during the pre-sales period will also enjoy two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance and receive a portable charging cable, offering a combined value of RM3,800.
“The GAC M8 PHEV is more than just a new entrant in the premium MPV segment. It redefines what a modern MPV should be,” said Tan.
“With its impressive range, luxurious comfort and intelligent hybrid engineering, and all round safety, it is the ideal choice for discerning drivers. We look forward to seeing the M8 PHEV on Malaysian roads very soon,” Tan added.

Meanwhile, the spotlight also shone on the regional crowd-favourite HYPTEC HT, showcased in both gull-wing and standard door configurations ahead of its upcoming third-quarter launch.
The HYPTEC HT features advanced magazine battery technology that enhances thermal safety and structural integrity, reducing fire risks and improving long-term stability.
With a projected driving range of up to 620km (NEDC) and support for DC fast-charging of up to 280kW, the HYPTEC HT is built for long-range capability and rapid charging.

There was also the striking AION V electric SUV, making its first appearance on Malaysian soil.
The AION V's design is said to be inspired by the stance of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and offers a NEDC range of up to 602km on a single charge.
Under the hood, a 100kW motor delivers 240Nm of torque, propelling the AION V from 0 to 100kph in just 7.9 seconds.

The brand also marked a major milestone for the GS3 EMZOOM with a limited-time Anniversary Mega Offer.
GS3 EMZOOM customers can now own the award-winning crossover with monthly instalments from as low as RM990.
Even more exciting, this offer is stackable with the ongoing “Drive Home A GAC, Win More Rewards” campaign, held in partnership with the FunHub App, giving buyers the chance to win prizes worth over RM600,000.
