KUALA LUMPUR: The GAC M8 PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) has been officially launched by WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA), and priced at RM328,800 (Premium variant) and RM388,800 (Luxury).
Prices are on-the-road, excluding insurance.
Those who place bookings before Dec 31, 2025 will enjoy two years of free scheduled maintenance and get a portable charging cable (combined value of RM3,800).
Owners will enjoy a five-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 150,000km battery warranty, whichever comes first.
WTCA, the official sole distributor of GAC in Malaysia, said the premium MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) offers refined craftsmanship, intelligent hybrid technology and exceptional comfort.
At the heart of the M8 PHEV is a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine paired with a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and an electric motor, delivering 372PS and 630Nm of torque.
It offers a driving range of up to 1,038km on a full charge and a full tank, powered by a 25.57kWh battery and 56-litre fuel capacity.
The M8 PHEV ensures outstanding driving comfort and stability, as it features an advanced Adaptive Vehicle Dynamics control system and an Electromagnetic Damping suspension.
The hybrid powertrain offers three intelligent driving modes – Intelligent Hybrid, All-Electricity First and Power Preservation.
Positioned as a “Luxurious MPV Masterpiece”, the M8 PHEV is said to redefine first-class travel on wheels.
Its striking “lion-like” front face and signature “Awakening Eye” LED headlights make a bold visual statement, complemented by 18-inch alloy wheels with signature self-levelling wheel caps.
Inside, the cabin has semi-aniline leather upholstery, extended 480mm second and third-row sliding rails for best-in-class legroom, and an ultra-quiet interior enhanced by 108 sound insulation points and an Engine Noise Control (ENC) system.
The unique M8’s draft-free air conditioning system, powered by Cool-Sense Technology, delivers gentle, wind-free cooling.
In terms of safety, the M8 PHEV features GAC’s patented world-first rear windscreen airbag as part of a 360-degree comprehensive airbag system, along with a suite of advanced technologies including Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Extra and enhanced kit on the Luxury variant includes Starlight feature for the rear sunroof, a fragrance system, Boss switch for front passenger seat, second row sunshade, an extra USB-A port, and more parking sensors.
As for ADAS, the Luxury variant gets extra features including Rear Automatic Emergency Braking (RAEB), Reverse Tracking, Smart Damping Control (SDC) and Full Automatic Parking Assist (FAPA).
