SYDNEY: GAC Australia has unveiled the GAC S7 premium plug-in-hybrid SUV (sport utility vehicle) at this weekend’s Everything Electric Sydney.
The S7 will enter global right-hand-drive production during the second half of 2027.
GAC Australia CEO Aries Zhao said, “The S7 presents another exciting opportunity in GAC’s journey in Australia. The S7 allows GAC to compete in the highly competitive Large SUV segment and complements our existing range of offerings."
"To do so with our innovative PHEV (plug-in-hybrid) technology also supports the significant demand for flexibility in how we power our vehicles, whether that be full-electric for short to medium trips around town, and the capability to take on bigger interstate road trips with ease”.
The S7 features AWD (all wheel drive) power delivery through two electric motors – one front and one rear – producing 170kW/220Nm and 80kW/250Nm respectively.

Paired with a 36.3kWh Magazine Battery, the S7 can deliver up to 150km (NEDC) of pure electric range for daily driving, while a 1.5T petrol engine delivers added flexibility for longer road trips thanks to a combined range of up to 1,020km (CLTC).
Alongside the S7, GAC showcased the AION UT – a compact hatch that recently won the Torino Automotive Design Award for Exterior Design – and the brand’s mid-sized SUV, AION V.
Both models featured a raft of accessories ranging from exterior body kits that deliver a more distinctive look, to lifestyle-focused offerings including a full camping setup.
Completing the range on display was the M8 PHEV - Australia’s only plug-in hybrid MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).
The M8 PHEV features some of the most luxurious central captain’s armchair seats in the sector.
The M8 PHEV rides on electromagnetic suspension, is cosseted by acoustic glass and offers a range of 1,032km fully charged.
Zhao added, “Everything Electric is one of the leading shows for electrified vehicles here in Australia, and it was imperative that GAC is represented here to showcase the exceptional new models that we offer to Australian consumers.”
Everything Electric Sydney takes place across Sept 18-20 at Sydney Showgrounds.
