Gentari teams up with Lotus

KUALA LUMPUR: Clean energy solutions provider Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari) via its wholly-owned subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lotus Cars Malaysia to explore collaborations in green mobility infrastructure deployment.

The MoU signing, held during the launch of the Lotus Eletre here today, saw Gentari represented by its chief green mobility officer, Shah Yang Razalli, while Lotus Cars Malaysia – the sole franchise holder of Lotus vehicles in Malaysia - was represented by its general manager, Tengku Ezan Ley.

Covering a period of two years, the MoU will see Gentari partnering with Lotus to explore joint work in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at Lotus' facilities as well as public areas, including EV charging packages for Lotus EV owners.

Other potential forms of co-operation include the introduction of Zero Emission Vehicle Fleet solutions in Malaysia, renewable energy deployment at Lotus facilities and a digital platform with the boutique carmaker.

"We are working with like-minded partners across all segments of transportation in driving towards sustainable mobility. Today, we are partnering with Lotus Cars Malaysia to make it easier for drivers of its high-performance cars to also reduce their carbon footprint with every kilometre travelled," said Shah Yang.

Ezan said the partnership with Gentari would enable the company to better support its EV customers starting with the all - electric Eletre.

"Enhancing connectivity to Gentari’s fast-growing EV charging network,will help increase convenience for our customers so they can effectively plan their trips and reduce range anxiety."

Since its introduction in June 2022, Gentari has made rapid progress in expanding its green mobility network.

Currently, Gentari through its affiliated entities, has deployed more than 150 charging points across 35 locations in Malaysia and over 160 charging points in India.

With a mission to be Asia Pacific’s preferred green mobility solutions provider, Gentari aims to capture 10% market share (circa 25,000 charging points based on current estimates) across key markets in Asia Pacific by 2030.

In the mid-term, Gentari aims to install 9,000 public charging points by 2026, with an anchored presence in Malaysia and India.
