KUALA LUMPUR: GGR Motor aims to open up 50 new electric scooter dealerships by the time 2026 comes to a close.
Group managing director Muhammad Musaddiq Mohamed Azmi made the announcement during the opening of its GGR Motor X Ajak branch in Johor which is situated in Taman Nusa Bestari, Iskandar Puteri.
Plans of the expansion came about based on the positive reaction garnered by the company's locally made Lion G1 e-scooter.
Selling up to 10,000 units of the scooter within nine months, Musaddiq said the achievement reflects on the public acceptance towards electric scooters as well as their trust in the product offered by GGR.
The company currently has 19 dealerships across the country and will add more sales location to not only allow easier customer access to their e-scooters but also aftersales service.
Among the 50 new branches across the country by the end of the year, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak have been identified among the states to be part of this expansion.
Though unconfirmed to be part of this plan, Musaddiq did mention that locations such as Shah Alam in Selangor and Langkawi as well as other hot tourism spots have been marked to have electric mobility user growth potential.
Musaddiq said the expansion will heavily take into account both sales and aftersales factors to ensure owners get access to the necessary support and after-purchase servicing.
"Post electric vehicle (EV) sales can drop if we sold our e-scooters without taking aftersales support into consideration," he added.
