PETALING JAYA: Go Automobile Manufacturing (Go Auto), together with Mara Liner (MLSB) and China-based Higer Bus Company, have established a strategic electric vehicle (EV) partnership that's expected to cost over RM30mil.

The partnership involves developing, manufacturing and engineering of the production of electric buses for the local market.

Through the cooperation, MLSB has been appointed as the authorised sales
representative and will provide after sales service for the electric buses as well as all Go Auto products.

This indirectly places Go Automobile in a league of companies that are committed to helping develop the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

Last April, the company and MLSB signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Memacu Agenda Bumiputera exhibition and was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and deputy Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Under the MoU, the company will supply electric buses to MLSB for a programme under the UNIBUS Initiative.

The programme will be implemented first at the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) Skudai, Johor in January, 2018, before moving to more public locations.

"We are proud to be given the continuous trust, and are committed to developing the EV components for the Malaysian and ASEAN markets", said the company's executive director Datuk SM Azli SM Nasimuddin Kamal.

He also added that his company recently handed over an electric bus to MLSB for training and research purposes.
