Goodyear Assurance ComfortTred: More comfort in your ride

By A. NACHI | 11 May 2023

GOODYEAR Malaysia recently offered CarSifu the opportunity to review its all-new premium Assurance ComfortTred, the latest member of the Assurance family of passenger car and sports utility vehicle (SUV) tyres.

For the last 30 days, I have been driving with test tyres of 245/45 R17 size fitted to an Audi A4 and I must admit that they offer a comfortable ride and excellent handling capabilities, both in wet and dry conditions.

Let’s go straight to the review.

The Assurance ComfortTred comes with Advance Noise-cancelling (ANX) Technology incorporated in the tyre design to reduce road noise and vibration, making it an ideal choice for drivers who prioritise comfort.

The tyres come with closed shoulders and narrower lateral grooves which reduces the air pumping noise caused by pressure variation when the tyres roll contact with the road.

Hence, I experienced a quieter and more enjoyable ride.

While driving in heavy rain on the highway towards Ipoh from Kuala Lumpur at 80kph, the Assurance ComfortTred tyres performed well in wet conditions, thanks to its new generation tread compound with high levels of silica and resin, which provided additional stability.

The tyre’s braking performance in the rain is also noteworthy, with its tread pattern and high-silica compound providing good grip and road contact on the tyres with effective water evacuation.

When it comes to taking corners on winding hilly roads, the Assurance ComfortTred tyres did a great job, especially during a trip to Genting Highlands where the tyres provided excellent handling and grip in tight and sweeping corners.

The larger rib design in the centre of the tread and the tread pattern work together to improve fast cornering performance.

The Assurance ComfortTred tyre is available in 12 sizes ranging from 16-inch (215/55 R16) to 19-inch (245/45 R19) with prices from RM420 to RM860.

The design is suitable for a wide selection of popular passenger vehicles using petrol and diesel engines as well as electric vehicles.

Among the suitable models are those from Honda, Toyota and BMW as well as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6 specifically.

After clocking about more than 1,500km on these tyres covering most types of roads including during dry and wet occasions, I must admit that the Assurance ComfortTred tyre is an excellent choice for drivers looking for a comfortable and safe driving experience.

Its key features such as the ANX Technology for a quieter ride, improved rib design for better handling around corners and a new generation tread compound for better road grip should make it a reliable tyre and a popular choice for drivers.
