Grab EV for rides from KLIA

PETALING JAYA: Grab Malaysia has launched a new EV (electric vehicle) ride option exclusively for passengers travelling from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The new EV ride option can be seamlessly booked through the Grab app.

The service will feature the BYD M6 7-seater MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).

The third row seats can be folded down to create a larger, flat cargo area for more luggage.

Grab Malaysia also introduced a dedicated EV Lounge at the airport, providing passengers with a comfortable space to relax while waiting for their ride.

This addition aims to encourage passengers to experience the new EV option.

In a statement, Grab Malaysia said it is collaborating with BYD Sime Motors, Yinson GreenTech, and Power-Up Tech (P.UP) to accelerate EV adoption in Malaysia.

“We are proud to support Malaysia’s green mobility push with the introduction of an EV-only ride option for airport travellers," said Grab Malaysia director of country operations and mobility Rashid Shukor at the service launch event at KLIA, which was officiated by the Ministry of Transport.

"This supports our broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040,” he added.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said, "The launch of this EV fleet, ride option, and airport lounge at KLIA is a timely initiative that supports our national sustainability goals while enhancing the travel experience at one of Malaysia’s key transport hubs."

"We hope this initiative will encourage more partnerships and build greater public confidence in the shift towards electric mobility,” added Loke.
