Grandmother forgotten in back of car among oddest things left behind
By DPA | 09 February 2025
LONDON: A grandmother was one of the strangest things left inside a car last year, a new survey has discovered.
That’s according to research found by online car buying service webuyanycar, which recorded 104,000 items left in vehicles across its 500 branches nationwide.
The grandma was found sitting in the back seat after the seller had walked away from a vehicle at the firm’s Merseyside branch.
A total of 35% of webuyanycar brand managers said that they had come across something funny or unusual in 2024.
Richard Evans, head of technical services for webuyanycar, said: “Having bought more than four million cars over the years, it’s really no surprise our team comes across a few misplaced or forgotten items in cars. Webuyanycar strives to go above and beyond for our customers and sometimes that involves reuniting them with the strange things they’ve left behind.”
“We do have a golden piece of advice for future customers, we recommend you take your time to check you’ve emptied it before walking away.”
Other items found were a microwave, divorce papers, a tin of beans, a golf buggy and a Rolex watch.
The research found that the most forgotten items left in cars and vans were phone accessories such as cables and chargers at 76% followed by shopping bags and dash cams at 62%. - PA Media
