GWM Malaysia presents Ora Good Cat EV to ministry for testing

KUALA LUMPUR: GWM Malaysia has presented an Ora Good Cat electric vehicle (EV) to International Trade and Industry Ministry for evaluation purposes.

The Good Cat 500 Ultra flagship variant was handed over by Great Wall Motor Asean region president Elliot Zhang to ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Isham Ishak.

The ministry will use the EV for a series of test drives over the new few months.

GWM Malaysia said the Malaysian government, which has announced plans for the country to become a carbon-neutral nation by 2054, has been a strong supporter of GWM's efforts to introduce new energy solutions.

"GWM Malaysia is taking a proactive stance towards advancing electric vehicles and sustainable transportation solutions.

"The company has formulated a local strategy to support Malaysia's transition from fuel-energy vehicles to energy-efficient vehicles, with bigger plans to launch more hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and fuel-cell electric vehicles in the market.

"This strategy shows that GWM Malaysia is dedicated to promoting eco-friendliness and contributing to a more sustainable future," the company said in a statement.

GWM Malaysia also said it is working to establish a network of EV charging stations that are easily accessible and convenient to alleviate potential concerns about the availability of charging infrastructure and increase EV adoption.
