GWM Malaysia saw 177 per cent growth in 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: GWM Malaysia is laying the groundwork for the next phase of its hybrid journey through Hi4, which is the Chinese automaker's next-generation hybrid architecture.

Last year, GWM’s advanced Hi4 hybrid technology was awarded the Grand Prize of the 2025 Science and Technology Award by the China Society of Automotive Engineers (China SAE) — the first time in more than three decades that a hybrid system has received the nation’s highest automotive engineering honour.

The award celebrates GWM’s intelligent 4WD electric hybrid technology — known globally as Hi4 — for its advancements in power performance, battery safety, and intelligent off-road capability.

GWM’s Hi4 system introduces a world-first twin-motor, multi-gear series-parallel four-wheel-drive architecture.

Featuring three power sources and nine intelligent operating modes, Hi4 delivers fast, smooth, quiet and efficient performance across all driving conditions.

Hi4’s terrain recognition system can identify up to 32 off-road surfaces and three urban driving scenarios with 99% accuracy, automatically adjusting power distribution to suit changing conditions.

A high-protection battery pack ensures power delivery across all temperature ranges.

GWM Malaysia is set to introduce the Wey G9 luxury MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) at end-January 2026.

GWM Malaysia also marked a strong close to 2025, recording a 177% year-on-year growth in commercial performance.

In Malaysia’s growing hybrid segment, GWM ranked third with a 15.5% market share in 2025, driven primarily by the GWM Haval H6 HEV (hybrid electric vehicle).

The Haval H6 HEV emerged as one of the best-selling hybrid vehicles in Malaysia, ranking second and taking up 14.9% of the market share among other HEVs in 2025.

GWM Malaysia managing director Cui Anqi said, “Our performance in 2025 reflects the confidence Malaysian consumers have placed in GWM as a brand. As we look to 2026, our focus remains on building sustainably on this momentum, strengthening our hybrid leadership and delivering meaningful value to our customers.”
