KUALA LUMPUR: The GWM Ora 07 is finally launched today and comes in two versions.

The front-wheel-drive (FWD) Long Range Ultra is priced at RM169,800, while the range-topping Performance all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant is RM189,800.

The Ora 07 is covered by a six-year or 150,000km warranty while the battery, electric motor and electric motor control unit get an eight-year or 180,000km warranty (whichever comes first).

A one-to-one battery replacement is provided should the state-of-charge (SoC) fall below 70% within the warranty period.

Additionally, the Ora 07 is also covered by a 12-year rust and corrosion warranty.

Currently, the first 500 customers for the Ora 07 will receive a complimentary home wallbox charger and an additional two-year warranty, bringing the total vehicle warranty period to eight years or 180,000km.

To further entice ownership, current GWM owners will receive an exclusive RM3,000 loyalty offer as a token of gratitude.

Colour options include grey, white and purple with the interior getting a standard black design.

The Performance variant will be differentiated by a brown interior. The Long Range Ultra will get this option for an added RM2,500.

As standard, Ora 07 is a sizeable vehicle with 2,870mm wheelbase and measures in at 4,71mm-long, 1,862mm-wide and 1,500mm tall.

Despite its size, trunk space isn't very accommodating at 333 litres, but it does ride rather low at 125mm while wearing 18-inch wheels wrapped by some respectable 235/50 series Hankook Venus S1 Evo 3 EV tyres.

The Performance variant uses larger 19-inch wheels that are fitted with 235/45 series Michelin PilotSport EV tyres.

Its all-round disc brakes comes with single-pedal control (Long Range Ultra only) and regenerative braking of Low, Normal and High settings.

Ride and handling is taken care of by front MacPherson struts and rear multi-link suspension.

Opting for the Performance variant will have the brake callipers painted in red.

Adding to the sleek nature of the Ora 07 and its low-drag design of an impressive 0.22Cd drag coefficient, it also features pop-put door handles, an active air intake grille, a large 1.7sq m panoramic glass roof, frameless doors, a powered tailgate and an integrated electric rear spoiler.

Illumination comes from LEDs for the front automatic headlights with follow-me-home function and high-beam assist, daytime running lights, mood lamp partition, rear combination lights and rear fogs.

For added comfort, acoustic glass has been fitted for the front doors and windscreen which are kept clear by its automatic wipers.

While using an 83.5kWh Ternary Lithium battery for both variants, it delivers the proverbial juice to a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that produces 204PS (150kW) and 340Nm.

This allows the entry-level Ora 07 to travel up to 640km (NEDC) and sprint from 0 to 100kph in 7.9 seconds before topping out at 170kph.

The Performance AWD drivetrain is touted to have up to 550km of range instead while having 408PS (300Kw) and 680Nm of torque - allowing it to launch from 0 to 100kph in 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 180kph.

Six driving modes of Normal, Well-being, Sport, Eco, Individual and Turbo (Performance only) are available.

The tilt and telescopically adjustable electric power steering wheel has three levels of heft for drivers to choose from including Light, Comfort and Sport.

The battery can be charged via a Type-2 AC charging port at up to 11kW which will take about 15 hours to bring its SoC from 0 to 100%.

Charging via its fast CCS2 DC charging port which can accept up to 88kW is able to bring its SoC from 30% to 80% in 32 minutes.

Inside, the cabin is nothing short of luxury and comfort with faux leather for the steering wheel as well as the front ventilated seats and rear bench.

The driver seat gets 10-way powered adjustability as well as memory, massage and welcome functions while the front passenger receives four-way powered adjustability.

There's also a wide Heads-up Display (W-HUD), premium audio reproduction of the 11-speaker Infinity sound system which can be controlled via the 12.3-inch multi-media, multi-coloured touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a 360-degree camera system.

For added comfort and convenience, there are rear aircon vents and USB-A as well as Type-C ports for both front and rear passengers.

A dedicated USB-A port is available behind the auto-dimming rear-view mirror for those intending to add on a digital video recorder.

For safety, the Ora comes with six airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control, electronic stability control, roll movement intervention, electronic stability programme, hill-start assist and a tyre-repair kit.

To further bolster safety, there's an electronic parking brake, tyre-pressure monitoring system, an event data recorder, park assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, front collision warning and automatic emergency braking, (pedestrian and bicycle).

Also included are rear cross-traffic alert and intervention, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, intelligent evade, lane change assist, traffic sign recognition, overspeed alert, secondary collision mitigation, auto collision unlock, emergency stop signal, adaptive brake assist, rear collision warning, automatic emergency braking (junction), emergency braking (low speed) and blind-spot detection.
