KUALA LUMPUR: GWM Malaysia has given a preview of two new electrified models – the Ora 5 HEV and Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV – while keeping potential buyers guessing their local prices and launch dates.

Presented at the Kuala Lumpur Mobility Show 2026, the Ora 5 is a compact urban crossover powered by GWM’s Hi2 hybrid system, combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).

The hybrid powertrain produces a combined 223PS and 476Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100kph sprint in 7.7 seconds. GWM claims fuel consumption of 4.4 litres/100km and a driving range of more than 1,100km from a single tank.

The Ora 5 measures 4,471mm long, 1,833mm wide and 1,641mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,720mm. It also features a 1.09kWh battery pack and smartphone app connectivity.

The model won the London Design Awards’ Design of the Year title and achieved a Guinness World Records-certified fuel consumption figure of 3.74 litres/100km during a 3,004km driving challenge in China.

Also making its Malaysian debut is the Haval H7, a plug-in hybrid SUV positioned as an electrified lifestyle and adventure-focused model.

The H7 uses GWM’s second-generation Hi4 intelligent all-wheel-drive system, pairing a 1.5-litre
turbocharged engine with front and rear electric motors.

Total system output is rated at 370PS and 750Nm.

Performance figures include a 0-100kph time of 6.2 seconds, while GWM claims an electric-only
