GWM Tank 300 HEV: RM260K, 2.0L turbo, 346PS/648Nm

KUALA LUMPUR: The GWM Tank 300 HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) brings hybrid refinement to its proven off-road platform.

The hybrid off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle) is priced at RM259,800 on-the-road (without insurance).

Exterior colours include Crystal Black, Pearl White, and a new HEV-exclusive Sand Beige.

It comes with a rebate of RM3,000 (GWM Owners Loyalty Offer) as well as five-year free maintenance (inclusive of labour and parts) and five-years free L2 vehicle telematic service (applicable for Tank 300 HEV variant).

There are also a lifetime warranty for engine and transmission (exclusive for first-hand private owners), an eight-year / 180,000km power battery warranty (applicable for Tank 300 HEV variant), and six-year unlimited mileage vehicle and HEV system warranty (applicable for Tank 300 HEV variant).

“The introduction of the GWM Tank 300 HEV reflects our commitment to offering Malaysians greater choice. It combines hybrid efficiency and refined comfort while staying true to Tank’s authentic, purpose-built off-road capability,” said GWM Malaysia chief operating officer Roslan Abdullah.

The GWM Tank 300 HEV pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 245PS and 380Nm, with an electric motor delivering an additional 106PS and 268Nm, resulting in a combined system output of 255kW (346PS) and 648Nm.

This electrified powertrain is said to deliver smoother, quieter, and more responsive performance.

Instant torque enhances responsiveness in urban driving, while improved efficiency supports longer journeys with greater comfort and confidence.

Built on a body-on-frame ladder chassis, the Tank 300 HEV is supported by a body which adopts a substantial amount of 1500MPa ultra-high-strength steel.

High-strength steel accounts for 99% of the frame, with longitudinal beam cross-sections reaching up to 160 × 130mm.

The torsional rigidity reaches 284.5 kiloNewton meter per radian ( kN · m/rad ), providing strong support for the vehicle’s resistance to twisting and overall handling stability.

Features include full-time on-demand 4WD (four-wheel drive) system for continuous traction and stability, 4L low range gearing for extreme off-road conditions, multiple terrain modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand, and 4L), Tank Turn Assist which enables a tighter turning radius by locking the inner rear wheel, and Crawl Control (CCO) that allows the vehicle to maintain steady progress over challenging terrain.

Inside, the cabin has Nappa leather upholstery, a nine-speaker Infinity premium audio system, and advanced infotainment and connectivity features.

The suite of safety and driver assistance systems includes a full Level 2 ADAS suite, featuring Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Junction Assist, Lane Keeping and Centering, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Braking, complemented by a 360-degree camera system and Hill Descent Control.

A suite of smart features includes Smart App Connectivity which remotely monitor vehicle status (doors, windows, tyres, location, fuel, battery) and control key functions like air-conditioning, seat ventilation, and sunroof, as well as Auto Parking Assist which detects and executes parking manoeuvres automatically with minimal driver input.

GWM Malaysia says that since its Malaysian debut in 2024, the Tank 300 has gained strong traction, with over 1,000 owners to date.
