MELAKA: The GWM Wey G9 luxury MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) is now open for booking nationwide, with an expected price below RM300,000.
Bookings can be made at authorised GWM dealerships.
GWM Malaysia recently celebrated the first vehicle roll out of the locally assembled Wey G9 at the EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) plant in Melaka.
The guest of honour was Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
The Wey G9 luxury MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) will debut the Chinese automaker's Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive) system locally in early 2026.
It is the first premium Chinese new energy MPV to be assembled in Malaysia.
GWM Malaysia said this milestone supports GWM’s commitment to localisation, industry development and its long-term ambition to establish Malaysia as a strategic hub for the Asean region.
“Today is a historic achievement for GWM Malaysia. It reinforces our commitment to Malaysia, from creating high value jobs to developing local suppliers,” said GWM Malaysia chief operating officer Roslan Abdullah.
GWM Malaysia managing director Cui Anqi added, “This is more than local assembly, it is the beginning of a broader roadmap that will support future export opportunities.”
