KUALA LUMPUR: Bookings have opened for the upcoming GWM Wey G9 Hi4 HEV (hybrid electric vehicle).
GWM Malaysia says pricing and full specifications will be announced soon as part of its official market introduction.
The new HEV option builds on the success of the GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV (plug-in hybrid), which is the country's top selling luxury MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).
The PHEV variant is approaching the milestone of 2,000 units delivered nationwide.
GWM Malaysia says the new HEV variant offers a quiet cabin with active noise cancellation, luxurious Nappa leather seating, an immersive premium sound system and intelligent driver assistance technologies, as well as a spacious three-row cabin and comprehensive safety protection.
“The new HEV combines the performance, efficiency and convenience of our advanced hybrid technology with the comfort and safety that customers have come to expect from WEY,” said GWM Malaysia managing director, commercial operations Stan Li Hao.
Powered by GWM’s advanced Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent 4WD) technology, the Wey G9 Hi4 HEV combines the performance and capability of four-wheel drive with the efficiency of two-wheel drive.
Its hybrid powertrain features a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, four-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), dual electric motors and a 1.67kWh hybrid battery, delivering a combined output of 358PS and 782Nm of torque for responsive acceleration and confident performance.
"Customers have different driving needs and preferences. By offering both PHEV and HEV options, we are giving them the flexibility to choose what works best for their lifestyle," said GWM Malaysia chief operating officer Roslan Abdullah.
"For customers who prefer the convenience of a hybrid without external charging, the HEV provides another compelling option, while delivering the first class experience that the GWM Wey G9 is known for,” he added.
