High-range Karma Revero EV coming 2021

LOS ANGELES: Karma Automotive announced the expansion of its Revero series with the addition of a GTE variant.

The GTE will be the company’s first all-electric vehicle that will join the GTS, GT and original Revero as the fourth model in the family.

There will be two model version of the GTE which starts with a 320km and 480km-range configurations at first with a hyper-range variant coming later that's said to be able to achieve an estimated 640km of range.

The 320km variant will come with a 75kWh NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) lithium-ion battery while the an extended range 480km will have a 100kWh NMC battery.

The company said that using a DC 150kW fast charger, the GTE will reach 80% of charge in under 30 minutes.

Through AC charging at 11kW, the GTE will be able to be fully charged overnight.

Additional details on the hyper-range version will be available at a later date.

Built on the Karma E-Flex Platform, the GTE will also feature technology from the company’s recently announced platform development initiative, designed to offer new electric mobility solutions to partners through highly versatile extended range battery applications to all-electric chassis systems.

For performance, the GTE is targeted to provide 0 to 100kph sprints of under 3.8 seconds while featuring electronic torque vectoring.

Like its predecessors, the Revero GTE will be assembled largely by hand at Karma’s Innovation and Customization Center (KICC), the company’s manufacturing facility in Moreno Valley, Calif.

Intended for further availability later in the third quarter of 2021 in China and Europe, the Revero GTE was developed, styled and engineered at the company’s facility that's located specifically in Irvine, California.

The US-based company will open a preorder process on karmaautomotive.com in coming months, with market-availability scheduled for Spring 2021.
